The Story Behind the Print

Narragansett Bay Topographical Map Print

This 1777 Rhode Island topographical map print reproduces the celebrated bay chart associated with Charles Blaskowitz and William Faden. The map centers Rhode Island, Conanicut Island, Providence Bay, Mount Hope Bay, Newport, Bristol, soundings, shoals, batteries, farms, coastal relief, and a large decorative title cartouche.

The composition works beautifully in coastal homes, studies, libraries, offices, map rooms, Newport and Rhode Island interiors, beach houses, and historic New England gallery walls. It has the presence of an eighteenth-century military and cartographic document, but the hand-colored coastline and sculptural relief make it warm enough for residential wall art.

Premium Archival Quality

Printed on heavyweight museum grade matte paper for exceptional fine art quality and long term durability. The archival paper helps preserve fine engraved coastline, depth soundings, hachured relief, red battery markings, farm labels, title cartouche, and restored paper tone. High resolution preparation keeps the artwork clear and lifelike, even at larger sizes.

A Thoughtful Gift (frame not included)

This historic map print is a refined gift for Rhode Island families, Newport homeowners, map collectors, history readers, coastal decorators, and anyone with a connection to Narragansett Bay. It works well for birthdays, housewarmings, holidays, office refreshes, coastal homes, creative studios, or interiors that celebrate historic New England cartography.

Color and Detail Note

About the Frame

Framed pieces are built to order in solid wood with a 1.125 inch face, glazed in crystal-clear acrylic, and finished with a kraft paper dust cover and hanging wire. Your print is dry mounted so it stays perfectly flat for decades. Each framed piece arrives ready to hang.

The frame adds roughly 1.75 inches to each side of the print size you select. Framed orders are custom made and ship within 7 to 10 business days, free in the U.S. See our shipping and return policies for framed piece details.

From a Collector

I wasn't sure what size I needed. The seller was extremely helpful and offered to send mock-up images. Beautiful accent piece!
