The Story Behind the Print
Northern Lights is a 1909 pastel study by Max Raebel, preserved in a historic color plate. Pale vertical curtains rise above a Norwegian landscape in deep blue, green and yellow, with the artist's signature retained at the lower edge.
The complete printed caption remains with the picture, including Raebel's credit and the note describing his repeated travel to Norway to study the changing phenomenon. Subtle horizontal bands and concentrated color preserve the atmospheric character of the plate. Its printed details remain clear across the complete historical composition and surrounding annotations.
Printed on 325gsm museum-grade archival matte paper using fade-resistant giclée printing with archival inks, preserving the detail and character of the original for generations.
Colors may vary slightly between screens and the finished piece — the print will always be richer.
