The Story Behind the Print
This vintage Swallow-tailed Hawk print reproduces plate 72 from John James Audubon's nineteenth-century Birds of America, restored as historical wall art for studies, libraries and nature-inspired gallery walls.
A blue-black and white hawk descends with its long forked tail spread wide, holding a green snake in its talons. The sweeping wings and sharply curved feather tips give the isolated bird a dramatic silhouette, while the original lettering identifies the snake beneath the composition.
Archive Print Co. restores each illustration for clarity while preserving the character of the original. Each reproduction is printed as a giclée art print on heavyweight 325gsm archival matte paper with archival inks.
Colors may vary slightly between screens and the finished piece; the print will always be richer in person.
