The Story Behind the Print
This Audubon bird print reproduces plate 357 from John James Audubon's nineteenth-century Birds of America. The historical engraving names the subject American Magpie.
Two black-and-white magpies fill the sheet: one sweeps forward with iridescent blue-green wings spread wide, while the other grips a slender branch below. Their long tails, layered feathers and bright eyes give the composition dramatic movement. The original No. 72, Plate CCCLVII, engraved title and printer's credits remain visible.
Archive Print Co. restores each illustration for clarity while preserving the character of the original. Each reproduction is printed as a giclée art print on heavyweight 325gsm archival matte paper with archival inks.

About the Frame
Framed pieces are built to order in solid wood with clear acrylic glazing, dry-mounted artwork, a kraft paper dust cover, and hanging wire. Each piece arrives ready to hang. No mat. Satin Black has a 7/8-inch face and adds 1.25 inches to the total width and height. Slimwood Silver and Slimwood Gold have a 1 1/8-inch face and add 1.75 inches to the total width and height.
