The Story Behind the Print
This Audubon bird print reproduces plate 372 from John James Audubon's nineteenth-century Birds of America. The original engraving names the scene Common Buzzard.
A broad-winged bird plunges toward a hare above a low riverside landscape. Reeds rise at the left, while water, trees, and a distant homestead draw the eye beyond the encounter. The folio number, plate number, original title, historical taxonomic label, and engraved credits remain part of the composition.

About the Frame
