The Story Behind the Print
Tafel 25 from Ernst Haeckel's Kunstformen der Natur (1904), published in 1904, titled Sertulariae and captioned Reihenpolypen. The plate is drawn in cream, pale yellow and grey linework on cream paper.
Colonial hydroids are shown as finely branching, feather-like growths, numbered from 1 to 11. A crown of long, beaded tentacles opens at the top centre, with branching sprays at the upper left and right and small cup-shaped polyps below them. Pairs of leaf-like and ribbed polyps flank the middle, a tall, feathery colony fills the bottom centre, and creeping, jointed stems cover both lower corners.
Printed on 325gsm museum-grade archival matte paper using fade-resistant giclée printing with archival inks, preserving the detail and character of the original for generations.

About the Frame
