The Story Behind the Print
This vintage Stanley Hawk print reproduces John James Audubon's illustration from Birds of America, plate 36, restored as historical wall art for studies, libraries, and natural history collections.
Two hawks fill the composition beneath a smaller blue bird in flight. Spread wings, strongly banded tails, and curved yellow talons create a dramatic contrast between the airborne figure and the bird on the broken trunk.
Archive Print Co. restores each illustration for clarity while preserving the character of the original. Each reproduction is printed as a giclée art print on heavyweight 325gsm archival matte paper with archival inks.
Colors may vary slightly between screens and the finished piece; the print will always be richer in person.
About the Frame
Framed pieces are built to order in solid wood with clear acrylic glazing, dry-mounted artwork, a kraft paper dust cover, and hanging wire. Each piece arrives ready to hang. No mat. Satin Black has a 7/8-inch face and adds 1.25 inches to the total width and height. Slimwood Silver and Slimwood Gold have a 1 1/8-inch face and add 1.75 inches to the total width and height.
