The Story Behind the Print
Tafel 81 from Ernst Haeckel's Kunstformen der Natur (1904), a plate of foraminifera, the chambered shells of single-celled animals.. The plate is printed in white line on a pale blue panel, with numbered figures, Haeckel's heading and the title below.
More than twenty numbered shells are arranged across the panel. Coiled spirals sit at the center and left, a star-shaped shell with pointed lobes at the right, and bottle-shaped and flask-shaped forms along the bottom. Long, stacked, toothed shells run down the upper right edge, and spined, bristling ones fill the upper left. The header reads Zur Tafel 81.
Printed on 325gsm museum-grade archival matte paper using fade-resistant giclée printing with archival inks, preserving the detail and character of the original for generations.

About the Frame
Framed pieces are built to order in solid wood with clear acrylic glazing, dry-mounted artwork, a kraft paper dust cover, and hanging wire. Each piece arrives ready to hang. No mat. Satin Black has a 7/8-inch face and adds 1.25 inches to the total width and height. Slimwood Silver and Slimwood Gold have a 1 1/8-inch face and add 1.75 inches to the total width and height.
