Thomas J. Martin’s U.S. Patent 125,063, granted March 26, 1872, describes Thomas J. Martin’s fire extinguisher, using a reservoir, pump, vertical tube, and hose connection to direct water under pressure.
The tall extinguisher vessel and simple base line give the page the poised silhouette of an early safety instrument. This restored edition preserves the original Patent Office arrangement in crisp black linework on cool, timeworn rag paper within the collection’s restrained black double rule.
