The Story Behind the Print
Tafel 99 from Ernst Haeckel's Kunstformen der Natur (1904), titled Trochilidae, Kolibris (hummingbirds).. The plate is printed in full color, with the specimens set in a leafy scene of ferns and foliage and the title below.
Many hummingbirds hover and perch among ferns and tropical foliage. Their plumage runs from emerald green to red, orange and violet, with long tail streamers, fanned white tail feathers, crests and speckled breasts. A small cup nest with eggs sits at the left, and pale pink blossoms mark the middle of the panel against a blue-green sky.
Printed on 325gsm museum-grade archival matte paper using fade-resistant giclée printing with archival inks, preserving the detail and character of the original for generations.

About the Frame
Framed pieces are built to order in solid wood with clear acrylic glazing, dry-mounted artwork, a kraft paper dust cover, and hanging wire. Each piece arrives ready to hang. No mat. Satin Black has a 7/8-inch face and adds 1.25 inches to the total width and height. Slimwood Silver and Slimwood Gold have a 1 1/8-inch face and add 1.75 inches to the total width and height.
