The Story Behind the Print
Tafel 94 from Ernst Haeckel's Kunstformen der Natur (1904), titled Coniferae, Zapfenbäume (cone-bearing trees).. The plate is a fine black-and-white engraving on a cream ground, with numbered figures set in a ruled panel.
Cones, seeds and leafy shoots of conifers fill the panel. A tall cone sits at the upper center and a bristling, pineapple-shaped cone below it, with juniper berries and scale-leaved cypress sprays around them. A ginkgo-like leaf with two round seeds appears at the right, with a ribbed cone and an opened cone at the lower left, and a tapered cone at the lower right.
Printed on 325gsm museum-grade archival matte paper using fade-resistant giclée printing with archival inks, preserving the detail and character of the original for generations.

About the Frame
Framed pieces are built to order in solid wood with clear acrylic glazing, dry-mounted artwork, a kraft paper dust cover, and hanging wire. Each piece arrives ready to hang. No mat. Satin Black has a 7/8-inch face and adds 1.25 inches to the total width and height. Slimwood Silver and Slimwood Gold have a 1 1/8-inch face and add 1.75 inches to the total width and height.
