The Story Behind the Print
Tafel 88 from Ernst Haeckel's Kunstformen der Natur (1904), titled Discomedusae, Scheibenquallen (disc jellyfish).. The plate is printed in white line on a deep green panel, with Haeckel's heading and the plate number above and the title below.
Two round views from above and a small bell fill the top of the panel. Across the center, a large medusa is drawn in section, its bell stretched wide above a mass of frilled mouth-arms that end in long, pointed lappets. Three more figures run along the bottom: a tall medusa with folded arms at the left, a flower-like view from above at the center, and a bell with a frilled skirt at the right.
Printed on 325gsm museum-grade archival matte paper using fade-resistant giclée printing with archival inks, preserving the detail and character of the original for generations.
Colors may vary slightly between screens and the finished piece — the print will always be richer.
