The Story Behind the Print

This 1884 Haverhill, Massachusetts map print follows the Merrimac River around the city in a pale hand-brushed sage wash on soft ivory paper, a detailed piece for a study or library.

The complete city map identifies six numbered wards, Rock Village, Kenoza Lake and Crystal Lake, with the Merrimac River forming its long eastern and southern edge in neutral paper. The New Hampshire and Methuen boundary lettering, title and full sheet border remain neutral.
