The Story Behind the Print

King C. Gillette’s U.S. Patent 775,134, granted November 15, 1904, describes a razor built around a thin replaceable blade held between a guard and cap. The arrangement reduced the need for sharpening while retaining a compact reusable handle.

Exploded blade views, clamps, guards, and two handled elevations give the sheet a dense but balanced mechanical composition. This restored edition preserves the engraved detail in black linework on cool aged paper with a restrained black border.

Satin Black has a 7/8-inch face and adds 1.25 inches to the total width and height. Slimwood Silver and Slimwood Gold have a 1 1/8-inch face and add 1.75 inches to the total width and height.
