The Story Behind the Print

Tafel 36 from Ernst Haeckel's Kunstformen der Natur (1904), published in 1904, titled Leptomedusae and captioned Faltenquallen. The plate is printed in pale blue linework on cream paper.

Six numbered jellyfish show translucent bells, radiating canals and trailing tentacles. A round disc with a ring of small tentacles sits at the upper left, a flattened bell with coiled threads at the upper right, and a tall, ribbed bell with a dense mass of tentacles at the left. A frilled bell with a long, twisting arm stands at the right, with a rounded one below and a circular view from above at the lower left.

Printed on 325gsm museum-grade archival matte paper using fade-resistant giclée printing with archival inks, preserving the detail and character of the original for generations.

Colors may vary slightly between screens and the finished piece — the print will always be richer.

About the Frame

Framed pieces are built to order in solid wood with clear acrylic glazing, dry-mounted artwork, a kraft paper dust cover, and hanging wire. Each piece arrives ready to hang. No mat.
