The mid-19th century marked a pivotal moment in lunar observation. As telescopes improved and lithographic printing flourished, French cartographers led the world in producing detailed astronomical charts. This moon map reflects that era's marriage of rigorous scientific method with Old World craftsmanship, when each celestial feature was carefully observed, sketched, and engraved by hand.

About the Frame
Framed pieces are built to order in solid wood with clear acrylic glazing, dry-mounted artwork, a kraft paper dust cover, and hanging wire. Each piece arrives ready to hang. No mat. Satin Black has a 7/8-inch face and adds 1.25 inches to the total width and height. Slimwood Silver and Slimwood Gold have a 1 1/8-inch face and add 1.75 inches to the total width and height.
