Tafel 83 from Ernst Haeckel's Kunstformen der Natur (1904), published in 1904, titled Lichenes and captioned Flechten. The plate is printed in black and white, with lichens in pale tones against a solid black ground.

Lichens are shown in a dense field of cups, stalks and crusts. A large, flat, lobed leaf-like lichen spreads across the centre. Round, rosette-shaped crusts appear in the corners, and a branching, antler-like form with small cups rises from the bottom. At the left a tall, tiered stalk is crowned with flat cups, and at the right an upright cluster ends in tiny trumpets.

Printed on 325gsm museum-grade archival matte paper using fade-resistant giclée printing with archival inks, preserving the detail and character of the original for generations.
