The Story Behind the Print

Tafel 48 from Ernst Haeckel's Kunstformen der Natur (1904), titled Stauromedusae and captioned Becherquallen. The plate is printed in soft green ink on cream paper, with the heading above and the caption below.

Stalked jellyfish are drawn in numbered studies. A tall central figure rises from a ribbed, shell-like base to a flared body fringed with knobbed tentacle clusters. Around it are a bell seen from the side with curling tentacles, a small spiked disc, a four-lobed cross-section, and two star-shaped views from above, one four-armed and one eight-armed, with tentacle tufts at their tips.

Printed on 325gsm museum-grade archival matte paper using fade-resistant giclée printing with archival inks, preserving the detail and character of the original for generations.

Colors may vary slightly between screens and the finished piece — the print will always be richer.
